I would like to get a clarification on installing Solo. In Ch. 2, "Installing Akeeba Solo (Standalone)", "Before you begin" section says:

"You can use the same database as an existing site (e.g. a WordPress, Joomla! or PrestaSHop installation) or an entirely new database. This is encouraged but not necessary."

Just to clarify this statement, do you encourage a new database or the existing database? Are there any obvious advantages or disadvantages with a separate Solo database?

Thank you.

We encourage using a separate database. The obvious advantage is that you keep your data separate. If you main site gets hacked, Solo's data will not be leaked since they are on a separate database. This is an additional, optional, protection on top of Solo encrypting its configuration data.
