Hello,
My post processing to OneDrive is failing and I cannot determine why.

I am hosting on SiteGround.
My CRON job works and for a while the file was moved to my personal OneDrive account. (1 T storage) The last time it was successfully moved was April 9, but it has never moved to OneDrive consistently. The file appears to be about 750MB.

Yesterday I went into my configuration and re-Authorized OneDrive thinking perhaps the token expired. Last night's backup did not make it to OneDrive. (My backups are on my hosting server, though.)

I am attaching the log file for last night.

Thanks in advance.

There isn't anything in the log, it is uploading merrily, then it just stops.
  1. Does the backup upload properly if you start it from the back end?
  2. The backup stops at about 10 minutes elapsed time. Do they all stop at that point? That could be your host killing your CRON job after 10 minutes. You would have to ask your host if they have a time limit.

Hello Dale,

I presume when you say 'start it from the backend' you mean from within Solo. I will try this later today. (Does that put a lot of pressure on the system while people are working? Is there any reason not to do this during working hours?)

SiteGround increased php max_execution_time variable to 300. Should that fix the problem? They did this in the Solo directory.

The backup did NOT transfer last night after SiteGround changes.

As an experiment, I have created a profile to transfer to Dropbox and will try that tonight.

Thanks

dlb
Yes, I meant to say to start it from within Solo. I get stuck in my Joomla! orientation sometimes. Backups are hard on servers. Where a visitor requests a page and then sits and reads it, the backup touches EVERYTHING and as fast as we can. That said, it shouldn't be a severe impact during regular hours, they may notice a little lag.

The limit I'm looking for is on the duration of a CRON job. That's different than the PHP timeout value. You may need to get beyond first level support to find someone who knows.

It will be interesting to see if it uploads to Dropbox.

Hi Dale,
I ran the backup manually from within Solo and it completed and transferred the file to OneDrive.
I created a copy of the profile and sent a backup to Dropbox. That also worked.

I am now in contact with Site Ground and they are going to watch the backup and see why the CRON job is failing. Looks like this is a host configuration problem and not my Akeeba setup.

I'll let you know the results - it may help someone else...?

dlb
I'm pretty sure we have it figured out. If you can confirm that they are killing the CRON job, the next step is to request a time extension. If they won't extend the time, let me know and we'll talk about Plan B.

Hello Dale,

Site Ground increased limits related to the duration of the CRON job and the backup succeeded and copied to OneDrive last night.

Thanks for sticking with me.

I'm glad we got it beaten into submission! Have a good weekend.

Hello again,

My backups are executing just fine for a week now!

My remaining problem is that I am not getting the confirmation email. I used to get this email, but haven't since February. I tested the email from within Solo and I did get the test email. How do I characterize this problem to my host?

Thanks in advance!

bdapat
Ok, Dale: my email confirmations are stuck on my server: they are happening. I've got this. Thanks anyway!

Pat
