Hi everyone

First of all - though I'm sure you know it - great tool!

Just installed JoomlaPack 2.0 stable and backed up the normal way which worked flawlessly as usual and in normal speed.
Then I also installed JoomlaPack Remote and set up the Windows App, connected and tried to backup twice.
Twice the same error "Could not open archive file for append!".
Also it seems to backup in a hell of a slow speed when trying over remote.

Any more info needed?
Joomla 1.5.6

Wasn't 1.5.6 the Joomla! version with the serious security flaw?

Mine was quite a bit slower using JPRemote, but I was doing five sites at once, so I assumed that was the cause. I don't recall any of us on the testing team getting a "can't append" error, I'll ask Nicholas to take a look at this.

Dale, you are correct. I was not aware that he said that all I did was move his post since it dealt with JoomlaPack.
Major Security Note:Please upgrade your site to Joomla 1.5.8. Joomla 1.5.7 and below in the 1.5 line has some major security issues that have been resolved in 1.5.8

Make sure you have selected a profile when setting up your site in JPRemote. This error should only occur if JoomlaPack can't load the profile that Remote instructs it to use. Remote is a bit slower than back-end backup because requests have to go through an extra layer, Joomla's XML-RPC server layer. However, it's not "slow as hell" at all. It's about 0-5% slower than a back-end backup, depending on server setup and network bandwidth.
