Hi,

I am trying to restore My Joomla! 1.5.8 site on a new host. I have used JoomlaPack to back up the site and have unzipped the site on the new host with Kiickstart. When I got to the stage of restoring the site in Kickstart, the program started to look for the index.php file in the installer folder (which I had uploaded separately to the new server because, of course, I had deleted it when I did the installation on the old server). In the event, my browser could not read the index.php file and gave me a tag error message.

Does anyone have any ideas about how to proceed? Should I try to restore the site manually?

JoomlaPack added it's own /installation folder to your backup archive. It should have been extracted with the rest of your site. That contains JoomlaPack's modified installer that is geared towards "restore" rather than Joomla!'s "install". The easiest way to get back on track from here is to start over with kickstart and let it extract the site again. That will be quicker than trying to extract /installation from the backup archive and uploading it. Then you should be back on track. :D

Thanks Dale that's very helpful. If it all sticks at the restoration stage again, could I open the index file in the JoomlaPack installation folder via its url and complete it all form there?

dlb
Yes, you can. Just point your browser to "http://www.mysite.com/installation/index.php and it will start. Most systems will forward properly with only the site name.
