Hi I am trying restore my site with joomla pack and kickstart but have NO idea what my password would be? How can I obtain this please or restore my site another way - could not find data restore. All I really need is the sql file in the backup which I cannot unzip or find. Where can I find this please?

If I can extract and find the password in the file would be great also...what do I do if I never entered a password to recover one please?

Getting a bit desperate as my site is down until I can restore it !! Please help thanks

dlb
We had some versions of kickstart escape into the wild with passwords already entered into them. :oops: Edit kickstart.php and look about line 29 for a line that looks like:
define('PASSWORD', '1234');
The "1234" is the password you're looking for. You can just put two slashes "//" at the beginning of the line to disable it.

The database dump is /installation/sql/joomla.sql. In a full site backup, that can't be restored directly without being edited to restore the table prefixes. Edit the joomla.sql file and search for "stage_" (note two underscores) and replace with "jos_" or your table prefix. Then you can import the file into your database. You will have to drop the existing tables first.

Thanks Dale

Unfortunately I am not very proficient with backups and completely screwed it up. I now have NO website and am at the point I want to pay someone to reinstall it using the backup file....do you know who (if not yourself) would be happy to do this - I am happy to pay of course!

I tried to reinstall it over top of the the old website - of course it didnt like that and now have to start again but cannot delete old site due to useid issue - (panic panic site down now for 15 hours eeek!) Happy to pay for a reinstall

Lotta,

All that old JPI3 code has been removed from the modern versions of Kickstart. Tell me what you're trying to do and what is happening and I'll try to get you pointed in the right direction. :)
