Just a thought I am using AWSCLi on one of my servers to synchronise folders with s3. Support for this would be a very useful feature for Akeebabackup or perhaps unite. Obviously the user has to install AWCLI but the option to select a directory and then choose upload or synchronise option and how often to run would be quite useful. For example we have a large PDF repository on the server it would be useful to synchronise this via akeeba and then we wouldn't have to include in the backup.

You are thinking it backwards. Right now, you can install AWSCLI (or s3cmd, or...) and sync specific folders and files directly to S3 using a CRON job. You can also exclude these directories and files from the backup.

From all these you ask to include in a feature we can implement exactly nothing at all as everything you ask is outside the scope of Akeeba Backup. Akeeba Backup is not a GUI to create a suitable command line for AWCLI, s3cmd or any other third party tool and it is DEFINITELY NOT a scheduling agent (there is a very round wheel called CRON which we're disinclined to reinvent).

What we can do, and have already done, is allow you to exclude the files and folders which you are backing up / synchronising / whatever using a method different to Akeeba Backup.
