Hi there, happy user of your extensions here.
I noted that there are new updates for Akeeba Backup and Admin tools available. However when I check in the back-end of my site (Joomla 3.4.8) it tells me that I have Akeeba BU 4.4.3 running. Clicking reload update information does not result in a message saying that 4.5.1 is available. Same for Admin tools 3.6.4 vs 3.6.8 available.
Not a big thing as I can simply install the packages but I thought you may want to know.

Hello Julius,

Updates are handled by Joomla!'s extensions updater. Unfortunately it's not very robust and in some cases it completely fails to load update information without giving an error message about it. You will most likely have to talk to your host and ask them to either enable the PHP cURL module or set allow_url_fopen to 1 in their php.ini file. If they give you the very wrong excuse that allow_url_fopen is disabled for security reasons please point them to http://www.dionysopoulos.me/flicking-the-wrong-switch.html which explains why they'd be wrong.

If nothing of that helps then you most likely have a stuck update system on your site. All you can do about it is try to clear the updates from Extensions, Manage, Update and then retry to load update information. If that still doesn't help, sorry, there's nothing else we can do to help you :(

Hi Nicholas,

Thanks for the swift reply. My host is Siteground per your recommendation :) so I expect them to be up to par and have the correct settings. Your remark wr to a stuck update could be the cause as I got an error message when updating to J 3.4.8 but the site and everything else was working fine and Joomla got updated correctly (at least by the looks of it). I will just update the Akeeba components and keep an eye if they will pick up on the new releases when they become available.

OK, we can rule out server incompatibility. Just try clearing the update cache and it should work the next time there's an update available.
