Hello Manfred,

I am developing Akeeba Subscriptions as an internal project, used on our site. To be fairly honest, I had reached a point where the features I didn't use were getting in the way of the things I wanted to do to improve the client experience on our own site. So two and a half years after I had discontinued support for Akeeba Subscriptions I decided to stop publishing installable ZIP files.

The GitHub repository is still public. Any developer wishing to do so can fork it and use it as they please. That said, features I have no use of (e.g. custom fields, a lot of integration plugins I don't use etc) are being removed. I've also removed Strapper from the package which gave Bootstrap 2 compatibility with any template. As a result the front-end will appear broken unless your site's template uses Bootstrap 3 or you do template overrides for everything.

These changes reduce the time I need to develop improvements for our site dramatically but screw other users. That's why I discontinued providing installable ZIPs, effectively making it impossible for end users to use the component.

Nicholas,
I can understand your motives. The Joomla community will miss a great product as I think it is a very reliable and user friendly subscriptions component. I wished you found the time and the relevant number of paying clients to make it a product worth your developer capacity. Unfortunately, I am not able enough to cope with a forked source code.

Regards,
Manfred
