Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? yes, Common issues on restored sites and how to solve them
Have I searched the tickets before posting? yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? yes (Quickstart Guide)
Joomla! version: 2.5.1
PHP version: 5.3.8
MySQL version: 5.5.16
Host: Local test server running XAMPP
Akeeba Backup version which took the backup: 3.3.13
Kickstart version used to extract the backup: 3.3.2

Description of my issue:

Hi Nicholas,

I am trying to setup a local test site using XAMPP. The backup and restore worked perfectly. During the restore, I followed the Kickstart restore warning to change the XAMPP php.ini for error_reporting = E_ERROR and display_errors = off. The result is that the admin works fine, but the website is a blank page. I went through the troubleshooting for common issues on restored sites and how to solve them, but with no luck. Any idea what I should try next?

Thanks,
Chuck

Have you checked the php error log in XAMPP to see what the error is on the page load? It could be that there might be an error in the php.ini file, but not likely. Usually a blank page is possibly some kind of PHP error.

Check that file in your XAMPP server folders and see if there are any errors.

You're the best! The php_error_log showed one of the Joomla extensions needed CURL PHP extension enabled. Once I uncommented the line extension=php_curl.dll in the php.ini file and restarted the Apache server, it worked.

Thanks!
Chuck

Well I might have spoken too soon. The Home page comes up fine, but when I click on any menu item to take me to another page, it reverts back to the XAMPP welcome page. Any idea why this is happening?

I fixed it! With XAMPP the Joomla website files are in a subdirectory of XAMPP, so I had to change the System Configuration setting in Admin Tools Pro .htaccess Maker to point to the correct subdirectory.

Cheers,
Chuck
