Description of my issue:
When trying to Connect to Amazon S3 (first step) I get "An Error Occured (sic)". Looking deeper, I get this message:

###{"status":false,"error":"S3::listBuckets(): [77] error setting certificate verify locations:n CAfile: AKEEBA_CACERT_PEMn CApath: nonen","buckets":[]}###

I can't find in the php where the AKEEBA_CACERT_PEM const is defined.

Thanks!

The AKEEBA_CACERT_PEM part of the error message is my fault. I've already corrected it in the SVN repository last week, but the fix hasn't made it into any official releases yet. The real problem, however, is quite different. Your host's PHP does not have access to a system-wide root SSL certificate cache (that's what cacert.pem is). This can mean that either your host forgot to install the root certificates package on their server or that cURL was compiled without OpenSSL support. Based on your description, the former is the case: your host didn't install the root certificates package on the system. Please ask your host to do that. If they decline, I will have to provide a workaround in the next release of Akeeba Kickstart Professional.

That's very helpful! I'm currently running a VM with CentOS 6. I've tried looking up some information on installing some kind of root certificates, and I will admit this is probably past the information I know. But I do see the following on the server, which I think may be the root certificates of which you speak. Is there a way to test and see if this is right or wrong? Thanks!

@atlas [/etc/pki]# ls tls/certs/

Understandable. I will contact the host and post the resulting information here to help any others that may experience this problem.

As for the AKEEBA_CACERT_PEM issue, when do you think you will be pushing an update that will resolve this issue? I would be interested in testing that, as well as testing anything that would bypass the root certificate issue that I am having.

Thank you again for your fast help, and especially for your great software!

I will push out a release, that's for sure. I am just not sure when I'll do that :)
