Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: (5.2)
PHP version: (5.3)
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Akeeba Backup version which took the backup: (latest)
Kickstart version used to extract the backup: (latest)

Description of my issue:

I have migrated a "mysiteABC" to "mysiteXYZ". Kickstart extracts the files, and then says I need to enter the new site DB info, which I do. However, Kickstart rejects it. The only way I can get Kickstart to continue is to use the Original "mysiteABC" DB Info. The site transfers completely, however, what I am left with is:
The new site "mysiteXYZ" reading the old site "mysiteABC" Joomla Database. When trying to set the new site DB to its own Joomla DB, it won't connect.
None of the original DB files copied into the new Joomla DB.
All other files DID copy.

The new site seems to function correctly, however it would be good to have some clarification on what went wrong in the transfer.

Thanks.

First, please note that you are entering the db connection information to Akeeba Backup Installer (ABI), not Kickstart. Kickstart is the standalone script which performs the archive extraction. ABI is the actual restoration script which is included inside the archive.

Regarding your question, have you followed the database troubleshooting instructions for Akeeba Backup Installer? I am 100% sure that you are entering something wrong. Each and every time I've helped someone with such a request we end up discovering that they were using the wrong connection information. If you can't find the problem by yourself, just tell me and I'll make the ticket private so that you can give me the necessary information for me to help you.
