Description of my issue:

I have restored an archive, and all seems to be ok - site files appear via FTP and the full database is there. But the site is telling me:

"Database connection error (2): Could not connect to MySQL."

I've double checked the database settings in configuration.php - nothing has changed and they all still work, and I can connect to the database using those details thru PHPMyAdmin

I am not sure why you closed this ticket before I reply? The error message means that your configuration.php file wasn't written properly when you restored your site. You will have to edit it manually and update the database connection information in there. Or redo the restoration.
