Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yup
Have I searched the tickets before posting? First couple pages
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yup
Joomla! version: (unknown) 2.5.11
PHP version: (unknown) 5.3.something
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you) CPanel
Akeeba Backup version which took the backup: (unknown) .7.7
Kickstart version used to extract the backup: (unknown) most recent

Description of my issue:

I restored from abcd.mysite.com to a new site abcd.com
On the final page, where it has two buttons: Go to Site, Go To Admin (or thereabouts) the first button goes to the OLD site abcd.mysite.com while the "Go To Admin" works correctly and goes to abcd.com/administrator/

By the way, it's really inconvenient that I cannot post problems in the evening (Central US CST). That's even when I'm logged in with my subscription. :(

Hello Stephan,

Regarding the time the support section is open, I am going to improve it a bit by having it open until later my night (for about 4 hours, which makes it early evening CST). I was trying different hours to find a balance between doing support and writing code. Sorry for inadvertently disabling your ability to post issues.

Regarding your issue, it seems that something in your front-end is performing the redirection. It's either a .htaccess redirection (unlikely, it should affect the back-end as well) or a plugin, e.g. a SEF solution, with a hard-coded domain name.

To be clear, I had a new domain abcd.com and was restoring to that.

Some of my .htaccess files specifically have rules to exclude /administrator/ patterns.

So, that's possible. I'll keep a watch for it if it happens again.

Usually, the first thing I do is review all Admin Tool settings, fix up anything, and regenerate the .htaccess file for the new site.

It was relatively minor of course, but I was a bit surprised when it happened!
