I need to restore a site where the db has suddenly dropped completely. I tried to restore the last 3 backups to no avail so then thought to just recreate the db.

I followed the instructions from Your text to link here... and found that there was a file called site.sql but also site.s01, site.s02... site.s32. I performed the instructions on the site.sql and when I imported it there were only 24 tables. Do I need to perform the instruction on each of these other files? Do I need to upload each one individually? Can they not all be merged to create one single file?

I look forward to your help here.

Yes, you need to perform the restoration on each file sequentially: .sql, .s01, .s02, ...

You can either process each file individually or you can concatenate all files into a single, big, SQL file. The result will be the same. Just make sure that the order of the files is preserved: .sql, .s01, .s02, ..., .s99, .s100, .s101, ..., .s999, .s1000, ... That is to say, the first file is .sql and the rest are .s with a monotonically increasing number what has at least 2 digits. If you mess up the order the restoration WILL fail.

I have tried adding the additional files individually and also merging them all into one and both ways then manually changing all the different items fro #__ to jos_ but each time something causes the import to stop. This is the latest error message:

Internal Server Error

500

No response from subprocess (php): The subprocess ended prematurely because it received the “TERM” (15) signal.

I have now tried to restore a backup from Dec and also get an error:

AN ERROR OCCURED
Invalid header in archive file, part 1, offset 178735475

Could I please send you cPanel access so that you can look at the actual backup and see if you are able to restore it?

You are getting an error from the third party tool you are using to import that database file. We are NOT the developers of that tool, therefore we cannot provide support for it.

Maybe an easier method would be this:
  • Extract the backup archive locally.
  • Copy ONLY the installation folder to your site.
  • Access the installation/index.php URL.
  • Go through the database restoration process as normal.
  • When you see the site setup page just close the browser window and delete the installation folder.

That worked perfectly, much easier that the long process of changing all the SQL files and importing the DB. Thank you.

I am still having hassles with this sites backup files. Every time I create a backup and try and restore it, even on my local machine, I get errors.

This is the size info I have setup: http://my.jetscreenshot.com/28589/20170313-ll0j-24kb

This is the error that displays:
AN ERROR OCCURED
Invalid header in archive file, part 0, offset 2468117
Using Kickstart 4.1.2

That's a completely different issue than the one you asked help with in this ticket. Please file a different ticket. Keep it to one issue per ticket to help us help you. Otherwise the quality and speed of support will suffer.
