Please look at the bottom of this page (under Support Policy Summary) for our support policy summary, containing important information regarding our working hours and our support policy. Thank you!

Why can't I access forum for Wordpress. I use Akeeba Bask up core and kickstart.

Anyway I think your video for Akeeba back up for Wordpress needs updated as their is a missing section. There is an option part where it asks what prefix to use and a selection DROP/BACKUP. This is not mentioned on the video. Also I have tried on four occasion to move a site. Either get Ajax error during upload or I get to section 6 clean up and restore and just hangs.

Hello Anthony,

You currently have an ESSENTIALS subscription which gives you access to Akeeba Backup for Joomla! and Admin Tools for Joomla!. Your subscription does not include Akeeba Backup for WordPress hence the inability to file a ticket there.

Regarding the video tutorial, that section had always been there. Previously it was hidden by default and you have to press the advanced button to see it. People kept missing it so we decided to make it always visible. In both cases it was always documented. For what it's worth, the database restoration section is common across all restoration scripts (Joomla!, WordPress, Drupal, Magento, ...), it has been present ever since the very first version of JoomlaPack back in 2006 and it's been documented ever since I wrote the first documentation in 2007 :)

Regarding the last two sentences of your ticket I will have to make a wild guess that you are trying to use the Site Transfer Wizard (STW). The upload speed and feasibility depends on your servers (both the source and the target) and the Internet connectivity between them. If for any reason the remote server blocks your source server while the upload is in progress -hence the AJAX error- you can always upload the backup archive and kickstart.php manually. The STW does not make site transfer possible, it only tries to make it faster to the extent that this is allowed by your servers. Please kindly note that we are NOT your host.

That said, if you reach the Clean Up stage your site transfer has finished. You can just remove the backup archive, the installation folder and kickstart.php. Again, the reason this fails is your target server. They are blocking your IP temporarily because you are making "too many" requests to the server. These "too many" requests are normal since you are trying to restore an entire site. Let your host know. Also bear in mind that if you are experiencing this kind of automatic IP blocking it's very likely that your site's visitors will experience the same (from their perspective: your site is broken and just hangs there) when they try to go back and forward very fast, e.g. when they are using a mobile browser and they accidentally sweep their finger right to left and then left to right in most mobile browsers. You might want to talk about this with your host and ask them to use less trigger happy settings on their server.

Sorry about that. I use the pro version on Joomla but the core version is fine for Wordpress.

Yes I had a feeling the host was throttling the requests hence all the errors. I did say to our club secretary to go with a specific host as the website runs fine with them but do they ever listen to a developer. Went against my advice. You learn a new thing everyday and I have learned that stupid people just cannot help themselves. Well this host they are with offer free migration so they can get on with it.

Thanks for replying via wrong forum lol

oh I was doing per video when I came across the parts I mentioned above. Loaded both .jpa and kickstart onto public_html. of host manually then run kickstart.

The procedure you are following is correct :) The only that changed between when the videos were shot and now is slight interface adjustments as I described. Everything is documented, though. If you have a question about what an option does you can consult the documentation or ask here.
