We have performed a successful backup from our Joomla site. After having transferred the (full) backup file with a size of 1.2gb (we tested both methods: as well as via ftp binary as also via the site transfer wizard) to our new server space, we were able to successfully start the kickstart process. Extracting went well (progress bar was around 50%) until it stuck suddenly. We initiated the whole kickstart process from scratch. Same result. What might be the issue? Backup file seems to be OK, also there is enough server space. Every assistance is highly appreciated.

It sounds like something inside the archive that your new server doesn't like. This happens frequently when moving from a Linux server to a Windows server because there are many characters legal in a filename under Linux that will choke Windows dead.

Please try the extraction with the "Ignore most errors" box enabled.

Is it possible to do a new backup if necessary?

We are moving the site from one identical linux environment to another. So, I am targeting much more to points like ‚timeout, other transfer issues‘.
How can I exclude such points?
Btw: where can I set this ‚ignore most error‘ box?
Please advise.

A timeout issue is possible, but that would be unusual. Usually it is something in the archive that causes it. For example, a /log folder on a Plesk system - the system owns /log and you can't write to it.

The "Ignore most errors" setting is the second field in section 2 of the Kickstart screen.

To adjust the timing settings, click the Show Advanced Options button in section 3, then enter:
Minimum execution time: 5
Maximum execution time: 3
