Hi, I just wanted to let you know that the Akeeba Extract Wizard stopped working after I upgraded to the latest OS (10.13.6). I am able to use the kickstart app to extract the backup so it's not an emergency for me. I tried downloading versions 4.4, versions 4.3 and went as far back as versions 3.3. Unlike the others, version 3.3 will open but it is missing its buttons to let you select the file.

I really like the desktop version as a quick way to let me play with my backups locally before I make changes on the live version. But, the kickstart version will work for now.

Have a great weekend.

Version 3 was a native app but the programming language I was using (FreePascal Lazarus) only supported an older GUI interface called Carbon. Carbon is 32-bits only and it is being retired by Apple. In fact, I think the next macOS will only allow 64-bit apps. Using the newer Cocoa interface which would solve this problem was pretty much broken. This prompted the urgent rewrite of the application in C# using Gtk# for the interface.

C#, like all .NET languages, are not native code. They require a runtime to execute. This is pretty much like Java which needs its own runtime (JRE) to run Java apps. While Windows comes with .NET runtime built-in and / or automatically provisioned, you need to install it yourself on macOS and Linux per the download page. The .NET runtime for macOS and Linux is called Mono and it's developed in large by Xamarin, a subsidiary of Microsoft.

I believe that you need to update Mono. Download it from https://www.mono-project.com/download/stable/#download-mac

Thank you! I wasn't aware of Mono. I will check it out.
