Akeeba Backup 3.3.4 just released
We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of Akeeba Backup 3.3.4, a minor bugfix and improvements release. This release addresses minor issues which were affecting all previous release, up to and including 3.3.3.
For starters, this release now properly works around installation issues under Joomla! 1.6/1.7. Even though those issue were caused by Joomla! Bugs, we thought it is only fair to provide our own workarounds for them so that our users do no longer experience installation issues like “can't build admin menus” or “infinite loop in JError” when installing our software.
Besides that we have done several improvements in the software itself. The most major one being the better integration of the documentation with the component. What this means is that you practically needn't know where to look for information in our documentation. If an error occurs, it will direct you to the proper Troubleshooting Wizard page. When you are in the Administer Backup Files page it will prompt you to read our restoration tutorial and view our tutorial videos. And so on. These changes have also been integrated into Akeeba Kickstart and Akeeba Backup Installer so even when you're restoring you will never be left starting at a screen not knowing what to do next.
Finally, we have issued a set of more than a dozen of bug fixes and miscellaneous improvements. For more information you can take a look in our download page where all of them are detailed.
Since this release we are no longer officially supporting Joomla! 1.6. Joomla! 1.6 reached end-of-life in mid-August this year. If you have a site running on Joomla! 1.6 you are urged to upgrade to Joomla! 1.7.

If you are a Professional subscriber you can download the Akeeba Backup Professional release from the same page; just make sure you are logged in before visiting the download page. Alternatively, you can use the integrated Live Update feature of our software to update it automatically on supported server environments.
