Hi Nicholas

Just looking for a bit of guidance in adding in an exception to the WAF for Redshop.

The URL which was flagged (but I'm pretty sure is actually okay and one generated by Redshop) is :

http://www.naturalwigs.co.uk/shop-by-brand/Page-1.html?id=22&limit=8&limitstart=8&tmpl=index

I'd already attempted adding in an exception to the WAF exception list by adding com_redshop into the "component" field, leaving the view field blank, then adding "tmpl" into the parameter field, however entering this URL into my browser still triggers the security exception (although the page is still displayed fine).

Am I entering the information wrongly or is it something to do with SEF URLs?

The SEF URLs don't allow the WAF Exceptions to operate correctly. WAF is launched before your SEF plugins have a chance to run, otherwise we wouldn't be able to protect you from attacks targetting the SEF plugin and the SEF component. It's a Catch 22 situation.

However, there is a workaround for this. Just go to Configure WAF, find the "List of allowed tmpl= keywords" setting and append index in there. For example, if that field read
component,raw,system
it should now read
component,raw,system,index
Click on Save and you're set!

Hi Nicholas

No problem I thought it might be something to do with that! I've added in "index" to that field now (mine only had "component" in there already...) and tested it again, seems fine now so thanks.

I'm assuming it's safe enough for me to add that into the exclusion list?

Yes, it's a non-standard tmpl parameter that seems to be only used by RedShop, so I guess it's pretty safe.
