Host: Ace-Host
Admin Tools version: 2.1.14 - Pro

Description of my issue:

Hello,

Experiencing the dreaded Unknown Joomla Core issue. Trying to upgrade a 1.6 built site to 1.7 prior to launching. I feel I have thoroughly searched the site. I have ensured ports 80 and 443 are fully open. I have made sure cURL is enabled. We have added 174.136.7.91 and 206.123.111.164 (found on a forum post) to the firewall as well as the domains suggested in the documentation.

I am hoping to get any more suggestions that may help. I feel that I have tried everything that I could find on this site. I am experiencing this issue on 4 sites that I manage running Admin Tools Pro on 2 different hosting companies and 3 different servers. When I purchased Admin Tools in May it was working fine. I first noticed this issue in October. I was told by my hosting company that there have been no modifications to the firewall.

Hoping that any additional suggestions can be provided. Are there any known conflicts with other Joomla components that can cause this issue? Wondering if I need to revert to a previous version...perhaps the one I am using will not recognize 1.6?

Thank you for your time and I appreciate your help!

You can manually clear the update cache which seems to be stuck. Click on the Joomla! core update icon (even though it reads "not supported") and click on the "Reload this information from the server" button. Normally, this should reload this information from the JoomlaCode.org server.

I have tried that unsuccessfully.

I do notice that a Joomla 1.5 site I maintain with this hosting company is running Admin Tools flawlessly. I did a test and uploaded an Akeeba backup of my 1.6 site to this server and am experiencing the same issue. I am thinking there is a conflict with Joomla 1.6 and the latest version of Admin Tools? Would it be a good idea to revert admin tools back to 2.1.5 and upgrade to Joomla 1.7, then upgrade Admin Tools to the current build? WOuld this be easy to accomplish?

Eh, Joomla! 1.6 is not supported by Admin Tools since mid-August. I have not tested AT 2.1.14 with Joomla! 1.6 at all and have no idea if it's working or not. You can always follow the standard Joomla! 1.6 to 1.7 upgrade route, using Joomla!'s integrated extensions update.
