#10229 administrator secret url does not work

Joomla! version: 1.7.3
PHP version: 5.3
MySQL version: 5.0.32
Host: eziweb.org
Admin Tools version: 2.1.14


Description of my issue:

I updated the secret administrator url to:

http://www.foundationdigital.com.au/administrator?fd27

but when I typed that into the browser I could only get into the front end.

As far as I can see all the permissions are ok.

I have disabled it now as per the troubleshooting notes, but am puzzled as to why this happened.
