Joomla 2.5.2 upgraded from joomla 1.6
Admintools 2.2

Description of my issue:
I have installed admintools and when clicking on super user ID I get the followign error:
JUser: :_load: Unable to load user with ID: 42

I have changed the user name and passowrd in joomla and was then unable to login or recover my site thereafter. I reinstalled the whole site form backup, same issue.

The admin password can be changed in Joomla before installing admintools. After installation, if the admin passowrd is changed, I can no longer log back into the joomla site.

Obviously something to do with the joomla version having been upgraded but help establishing how to fix thisd would be uhc appriciated!!

Have you tried following the documentation instructions regarding undoing Admin Tools' changes?

OK, thanks. I got as far as no. 7 'Find user 42 or 62' neither exists on my system. I guess this is why it was 'unable to load user ID 42' ?

Yes, that's exactly what is going on. I suspect that you deleted the old Super Administrator account. Short of modifying your database (a very risky process if you don't know what you're doing) there is no other to resurrect that user. please note that if all your problem is that error message shown in Amin Tools, you do not have to worry. It is just a cosmetic issue and doesn't cause any problem to Admin Tools. I would love to be a able to suppress it, but Joomla! won't let me do that.

OK well thanks for the superfast help. I do not beleive the original admin was deleted but it may have been. The site has bene upgraded from 1.5 thru 1.6 to 2.5.2 so maybe that messed things up somewhere.

Thanks again..

That's a very important note. Joomla! 1.5 was using the default ID of 62 for its Super Admin, whereas 1.6 and later use 42. In this case it is normal to get this error message; user 42 never existed on your site and never will. You can safely ignore it.
