Description of my Feature Request:

I have a domain that has been getting admin login attempts from a bot. This morning the record showed 4620 failed attempts in 3 hours while I was away. The bot seems to know when it has been blocked because when it gets blocked it just changes its IP and continues on. My feature request is to have a tool that puts the site in emergency offline mode after X number of failed attempts (regardless of IP or anything else) in X amount of time. Having this I can define what limits I want to place on this.

Not sure if this is possible because the super admin would still need to be able to login when they return but I know when I am active watching my sites if I spot this behavior I put the site in emergency offline mode and turn it back on in about 20 minutes and the attacks stop.

If this is not doable what other options might I have to at least slow this behavior down?

Bad idea. If I want to cause a denial of service to your site all I have to do is create a "stupid" bot which makes failed login attempts very fast. Then your site enters in EOM automatically and you lock everyone out. If I am really smart I can make sure that whenever you bring your site up my bot starts over. It's basically the IT equivalent of an anaphylactic shock. You don't want that on yourself, why would you want that on your site?

Just let Admin Tools auto-ban each IP. You may want to turn off the emails as they do get very annoying very fast.

This is why I asked Nic, I enjoy your direct to the point answers that bring me back to reality and this makes perfect sense. Now that I think about it doing this empowers these pricks to bring my site down by my own design.
