Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: Joomla! 2.5.11 Stable [ Ember ] 26-April-2013 14:00 GMT
PHP version: 5.3.25
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: Lunarpages
Admin Tools version: Admin Tools Professional 2.5.5

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

I am trying to use a free service to check for any broken links on my website http://www.brokenlinkcheck.com/ . I keep getting an error: Failed to connect to http://www.mysite.com

I assume that I have some setting enabled in Admin Tools that is blocking the attempt to scan my whole site. Sadly, I can't find it, and can't remember where it could be.

So, does that sound possible? Can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Try to replicate the issue after disabling the "System - Admin Tools" plugin. If you can still replicate the issue, it is not caused by Admin Tools. Disabling that plugin means that Admin Tools code (including the Web Application Firewall) is not running on your site.

If doing the above did stop the issue from occurring, we'll have to do some troubleshooting.

First go to Admin Tools, Web Application Firewall, Configure WAF. Make sure "Log security exceptions" is set to Yes; if it's not, set it to Yes and click on Save. Now try reproducing your issue. Immediately after that, please go to Admin Tools, Web Application Firewall, Security Exceptions Log and go to the last page. The last log entry should have the date and time of when the issue occurred. Please copy the Reason and Target URL here so that I can help you.

Weird. I disabled the plugin, and tested. It worked. Then I re-enabled the plugin, and forgot to do the error checking you mentioned. I finally got around to it today, and tested it with the plugin enabled. It worked again. I'm stumped.

The only thing I've done since the first test is disable SH404sef, because I was having too many conflicts with Jomsocial. Maybe (?) it was also involved in the problem?? I don't know.

Anyway, it is working. Thanks for the advice.

Perhaps it was sh404SEF. Do remember that sh404SEF does have its own security features which work in addition to those of Admin Tools.

Yah, thanks Nicholas :)

Actually, in all the years I've used your products, I don't think I've never run into a problem that was caused by them. You truly have done a remarkable job! Of all the extensions that can be used with Joomla, yours are hands-down the #1 MUST HAVE!
