Description of my issue:

Hello!
I have some question regarding how Admintools deals with googlebots.

How does admintools know that an ip is a google(bot) IP address. I see in this questions that a user found out that one specific ip is a "googlebot". Ticket. But we know Google has a number of ip's and according to google they do not make those ip's public. GoogleWebmaster page -- meaning I would have to verify "after the fact" if an ip is indeed a googlebot. I read somewhere that while Google may not officially publish their ip's for googlebots, there is at least a "range" of Ip's that they usually use.

i also see this lnk: Webmastertools
Needless to say all this is causing a googlebot of a confusion to me.

So so far as Admintools is concerned, what are your recommendations on how we deal with googlebots -- to make sure our sites are being indexed and are not being blocked

Thanks!

As you said there is no way to know if an IP is Googlebot or not. As a result it is impossible to check for that. So, naturally, we do not check for something that is impossible to know. You do not have to do anything special.
