Description of my issue:

Hi!

After updating Admin Tools Pro to 2.5.8 from 2.5.6 my .htacces editor dissapeared.

I've read the Ticked with explanation of non-apache servers, but I'm ABSOLUTELLY SURE, that my server doesn't ignore .htaccess files - cause while setting up I've got 500 Error, and all redirections, folder locks, etc are mede with .htaccess.

So maybe it's a problem with server type recognition.

Please make .httaccess Editor back again ;)

It's called "Biznes", if I understood you question correctly ;)

I've just talked with my hosting support and this server is 100% apache.

No, I am asking what is the server-side software they are using. If it was Apache you'd see the .htaccess Maker. It's not Apache (or at least it doesn't report itself as Apache).

Reporting itself as Appache may be the issue, cause man from support told me it's for sure Apache.

.htaccess files working correctly, for sure aren't ignored (i.e. files except index.php are blocked), so it has to be Apache. Or there is other server software that respects .htaccess files?

It there any PHP script or any Joomla plugin that can generate server-side software info report?

I would use it and paste the report for you here.

Thank you!

That solved the issue!

And I've got the explanation from my hosting support - which may be helpfull in future:

Web service within the cluster WisePanel software runs on Apache, however, CMS scripts will recognize software as a Web Server WisePanel, because our system because it has our custom copyrighted modifications within the code.

Thanks for super-fast support!

Pawel

Yeah, that's what I figured. There are too many broken hosts out there, having their Apache web server report itself as something completely random. Well, I can't fix stupid hosting environments so I'll just show the .htaccess Maker to everyone regardless of what random crap their server may be reporting :(
