Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? No
Joomla! version: 2.5.14
PHP version: 5.3.19
MySQL version: 5.1.70-cll
Host: hostingmatters
Admin Tools version: 2.5.8

Description of my issue:
When trying to change a password, I get:
Save failed with the following error: You cannot remove your own Super Admin permissions.
I noted that Nicholas had posted on this topic (e.g., #16898 – User Password) and changed the root asset record as recommended, but got Access Denied and so changed it back.
I have run Repair & Optimize from AT Pro, also Cleaned Temp, also Fixed database from Extension Manager / database (no problems).
I am also getting:
Warning: mysqli_fetch_row() expects parameter 1 to be mysqli_result, boolean given in .../libraries/joomla/database/database/mysqli.php on line 469 (also 512), which seems to be associated with Admin Tools, at least some postings have said so.

Suggestions!

Thanks!

The message you are receiving comes from Joomla!. With a quick Google search I came up with this related thread from the Joomla! forum: http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p=2574433

I had actually seen that message; not sure whether this is the same situation. As super admin, I was able to create another super admin, then log in as that super admin and change the password for the original super admin. But neither account can change its own passwords. Not blocked from the administrator panel or anything like the other fellow was facing. I was wondering whether Admin Tools Pro settings had anything to do with the inability to do this, or whether there was any straightforward fix to remedy this.

No, and you can check it. Just disable the System - Admin Tools plugin which disables Admin Tools' protection. Now retry and you should get the same error message.

You are correct - I disabled the plugin and still got the message. I can work around this, but will continue to look for a fix.

Thanks for your help!
