Description of my issue:

When I use the site transfer pro feature, it works by successfully copying the files to a new server, but it does not redirect me to the Akeeba installation page like it's supposed to. Furthermore, when I go to the main site page, all it does is trigger a download of the index.php. Please help.

When index.php downloads or displays instead of executing, it is a server set up problem. The site you are transferring probably has an .htaccess file which contains an AddHandler directive that is stopping the execution of the installer on the target server. A php.ini file could affect server set up too.
