Trying to use the Update GeoIP database gives a blank page with :

Fatal error: Class 'JHttpFactory' not found in ..../plugins/system/akgeoip/lib/akgeoip.php on line 196.

Also, on some sites, the "update every month" warning, while the button is greyed out, doesn't go away. Other sites the whole warning disappears once the plugin is installed.

Please take a look at your site, it should be stuck in 2.5.14. This class that is reported missing in your error message was added in Joomla! 2.5.15. If you have at least Joomla! 2.5.15 you can't get this error message, unless your site is only half-updated.

Thank you Nicolas. Indeed it was 2.5.14 not what I thought was .18. Pilot error.... <sheepish grin>

A friend of mine encouraged me to buy Admin Tools Pro - wow... glad I did, but kind of frightening when you actually see what's happening to a site. I have one site in particular that's a big ecommerce one on a very insecure server (haven't been able to convince the owner to move yet). It was getting hit, literally, hundreds of times a minute. Think he might agree with me now!

Heh. It happens :) Yesterday I discovered my own blog was two releases behind because Joomla! Update was stuck. It can happen to any one of us.

Yep. We usually get anywhere between 200 to 5000 hacking attempts every day. The vast majority is about ancient WordPress, IIS and Mambo exploits, none of which has ever touched our servers. Funny, isn't it? :D

I am pretty sure that quantifying what you already knew will certainly serve as a big wake up call to your client.
