I am having all kinds of problems with logins.

I SUSPECT that perhaps I updated Admintools to a version greater than what my Jooomla supports. (See version info)

E.g.
* To be sure it is not a password problem, I reset a password from the user manager. Then attempt to log that user into the front end. Joomla fails to log in and I get an autoip ban on that ip (EVEN THOUGH I have whitelisted that IP). This is after ONE failed login even though I have it sent to autoban after 3 failed logins.

* I whitelist my ip address and it still autobans me.

IF AS I SUSPECT, I have installed a version of Admintools greater than that which is supported by my joomla installation, how do I downgrade my Admintools component without losing my settings/data.

Your software versions appear to be fine. I think you need to clear your IP address out of your Security Exceptions log. Admin Tools sees that you have the required number of (old) entries to issue the ban and it autobans your IP. The current login is whitelisted, but the old entries are causing the problem.
