As a few other users have already entered tickets on this, I wish to add my two cents:

The error when using the updater is:
https://www.akeebabackup.com/component/ars/?view=download&id=2633&dlid=&dummy=my.zip&dlid=@#@#!#@!#*(@#)!*#)!*#)*!)*#)!@*#)!*#)!*[#)*

ID cleared out for obvious reasons.

Tried it on another site hosted by a different hosting company:

Package download failed: https://www.akeebabackup.com/component/ars/?view=download&id=2633&dlid=&dummy=my.zip

No download ID listed, and I do have it installed in the options. As also noticed in the Akeeba support threads, error is the same.

I tried turning off the System Restore Points .. didn't help.

Are you getting the 403 error as well?

Dale,

no 403 error when running the update from the Joomla update panel. Again, this is on J! 3.3.0

Thanks for the feedback. As you saw, there are several of these in the last three hours. I'm going to see what Nicholas has to say about the one I flagged for his attention.

There have been several similar update errors this afternoon. One of them has been solved, it was a bad Download ID. Please double check your Download ID to make sure it is correct. You can find your proper ID under the My menu item above.

Dale,

I could have sworn I changed them all after the last update. Evidently I missed two sites ... DOH!!

Thanks, and sorry for the waste of your time

Not a waste of time! I had three of them this afternoon. When the first two were Download IDs, I was pretty sure your's would follow.

The Download IDs are based on your email address and password hash. When either the email or the password changes, the primary Download ID changes with it. You can use Add-On IDs to avoid this, they are not based on email and password. There is another mass change some time in the future, circumstances will require a password change for all users. I don't have a time frame for this change.

Thanks Dale,

I also got a notice when I logged in to the ticket area that the upgrade to Joomla 3.3 caused the download IDs to be reset.

Whew, I don't want to do this again, so I'll definitely create an Add-on ID.

Thanks,

Neil
