 Hello,

I have looked in SEO and Link Tools, URL Redirection and .htaccess Maker.

I am trying to show search engines to not index my https:// site. I only want my http://www.sitename.com indexed.

As it is now it redirects but not properly and they have everything indexed.

https://sitename.com
https://www.sitename.com
http://sitename.com
http://www.sitename.com

All of them are indexed. When I click them they do redirect to the proper http://www.sitename.com URL but its not a proper redirect for google to nit index the incorrect domain.

Thanks

If you do a redirect from HTTPS to HTTP nobody (search engines or visitors) will be able to access the HTTPS site, which makes paying for having an SSL certificate rather moot. In this case all you need is to disable HTTPS on your site (Force SSL -> None in Global Configuration) and set up the non-www to www redirection in .htaccess Maker.

IMHO it would be FAR better to go the entirely opposite way: set Force SSL to Both in Joomla's Global Configuration and set up the non-www to www redirection in .htaccess Maker. Moreover enable the HSTS Header option in .htaccess Maker to force all browsers to use the HTTPS version of your site. This way search engines will only index the HTTPS version of the site. It absolutely makes no sense whatsoever to not do that. HTTPS adds a measly 1% to your server load (about 0.03 seconds increase in page load time – one fourth of the time it takes you to blink really fast) and vastly increases the security of your visitors' data.

When I do this I get a redirect loop and my whole site goes down.

My domain is http://www.boattreasure.com/ you can see what I'm talking about.

For some reason the admin area is not affected by the redirect loop.

Thanks

Take a look at your configuration.php file, in the $live_site variable. Maybe you have set the http:// URL in there?

Hello,

It's not in there. It's blank. I will send you that file also on the private ticket.

Thanks again

I added login info to the other thread if you need it. I am going to not be around a computer for the next 15 hours and I would like to get the site back up and running,

Thanks
