Im not a Newb & use Admin tools in every site I create and most of them are now on siteground servers now too - as is the one I am having trouble with here - uktogether .co.uk

Upon setting up the password protect for this site I am immediately redirected to a 404 page.
I then have to remove the .htacess & .htpswd files from admin folder to get back in to the admin screen.

I have uninstalled admintools, reinstalled it & tried again but I get the same issue.
Also tried with different password/username combinations.

This is a new site, that I just moved from a test server (using akeeba backup) a few hours ago. It is also hosted in a Siteground VPS server, where I have many other Joomla sites and all thes are running Admintools pro, with password protection.
It was also actually moved from within the same siteground VPS server

Does this sound like anything you guys may have come across before & have any help/advice for things I could try?

Many Thanks,
Andy

I know what you mean. It seems that SiteGround doesn't allow the folder password protection through Admin Tools. You can do that through SiteGround's cPanel, using the "Password Protect Directories" tool. The documentation of that feature can be found at http://docs.cpanel.net/twiki/bin/view/AllDocumentation/CpanelDocs/PasswordProtectDirectories

Hi Nic,
Thanks for your prompt reply

I have other Joomla 3.3.3 sites, using very similar components and set up - including pro versions of akeeba backup & akeeba admin tools within the exact same Siteground Cloud VPS server, just different WHM accounts (all same settings) & these others have the password protect set up via admin tools.

I'm happy to set it up via cPanel, but its just bugging me why its not working for this one site, in the same siteground VPS?

I am not sure. In our VPS (we're also hosted on SiteGround now) we have the same issue. Unfortunately I didn't have time to investigate as last week I was on vacation and this week I had to deal with the security release of our backup software. I have it on my to-do list. If it's something we can do in Admin Tools rest assured that the next version will include all necessary changes.

OK I'll set up via cPanel for this 1 site for now and check out next release of AT.
please let me know if there is anything I can test in my sites or siteground VPS.

Thanks

Andy
