In trying to delete the thousands of logs in the Security Exceptions log it eventually will give me a 404 error everytime I try to access the administrative part of the website. I tried it twice, with both times having to restore the complete site in order to get the database restored. Please advise as to how I can delete all of these logs as they have grown my database to 140mb in 2 weeks time.
thanks!

Also if there is a way I can restore the database by itself and have the ability to not check for foreign keys that would be great too.

You can control the size of your Exceptions Log under the System - Admin Tools plugin. Set the Maximum security exceptions log entries setting to the number of entries that you want to retain. Note that the system will slowly reduce your current log down to the selected size. It won't do it all at once.

Partial restore - "there be dragons." You could rename the /installation folder instead of deleting it. When you want to restore the database, you can rename it back and run the installation. Note that this is good for a short term solution only. There are security implications - your database is sitting there in eye readable format. The database data would become out of date if you installed a new extension.

Perhaps a better solution would be to extract the archive on your local computer and upload only the /installation folder contents. Then you can run the installer and restore the database. That eliminates the security concerns. The "stale data" issue would remain.
