 Hi!

I have installed admintools a few weeks ago and it's really a great tool! Thank you so much. It took me some time to change all the settings to our use. But I think we are nearly done now. Maybe we lost some customer because I blocked a little bit too much :-)

And this is also my main problem and I really didn't find out how to handle it, even though I search through a lot of tickets and other stuff. Somehow my website blocks now all mails going out from our website: aurum.net to all @hotmail.com adresses. Then I always get these: "Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender‏" from "Mail Delivery System" respectively [email protected].

The content is:

be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below.



For further assistance, please send mail to postmaster.



If you do so, please include this problem report. You can

Do you know how I can change this back? So that all outgoing mails to hotmail.com work properly again? Actually I wouldn't mind, that the none of the outgoing mails should be blocked. That would be great. I'm happy to pay for a working solution! And a 5 star rating on joomla extensions is also sure thing :-)

The Hotmail issue is not related to Admin Tools. You can disable the System - Admin Tools plugin and restore your standard Joomla! .htaccess file, that will completely eliminate Admin Tools, but your Hotmail issue will remain.

Hotmail blocks IPs when they
  1. send spam or
  2. they have an SPF record in the DNS zone which doesn't match the outbound mail server.

Note that there may be multiple sites attached to your IP address. If any of them are sending spam, Hotmail will block the IP address.

Awesome, thank you very much for your reply! Just checked that out with my hoster and the changed something and now everything works again!

But I have another issue, maybe you could help me here again. Lately a lot of fake accounts are created on my website aurum.net using fake @gmail.com adresses. At the moment my settings are, that after an account creation a user has to activate the account by mail. But these mails are not correctly sent to the gmail adress, most likely because gmail remarks, that these are fake accounts and blocks them. However I receive dozens of "Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender‏" emails with that content:

My questions now are: 1. do I need to be afraid of these user creations? And 2. is there any chance that I can use admin tools to lessen these fake account creations? I would rather prefer not having to use these captchas because on the one side they are ugly and on the other side I use a special plugin for virtuemart which doesn't work too well with the captchas, or at least I tried and failed a several times to install a working solution.

Persistent little devils aren't they? They can't use the account because you already have it set up so they need the email in order to finish the registration. Admin Tools really can't help you to prevent them from registering.

What Admin Tools can help you with is cleaning up the mess they leave behind. Open the System - Admin Tools plugin and you will find some options to automatically delete inactive users who have not activated their account in x number of days. Most real users are going to activate their account right away, so if it has gone for a few days, it is probably set up by a bot.

Yes, they are seriously persistent devils! Why would you even waste your time for this...
