 Hi

I am bringing a website out of retirement. It has not been updated since November 2014.

Admin Tools version 3.3.1 is displaying a message "This version of Admin Tools is over 90 days old. Most likely there is already a newer version available. Please check and apply any upgrades to make sure you get the best protection possible for your site."

But I'm not getting a prompt to update to 3.6.1. Even though I have the correct Download ID.

I am also having problems upgrading Joomla (from 2.5.24 to 2.5.28) - it hangs. So I thought I'd try updating admin tools first to see if it will do the Joomla update for me.

How can I update Admin Tools? Do I need to reinstall it? If so, can I leave the existing component there?

(I am having the same issue with Akeeba backup).

Thanks and regards.

That's a good thing that you can't upgrade. It makes a mess in the rare cases where people were successful. We no longer support the Joomla! 2.5 series with the very latest versions of our software. You can check our compatibility page here: https://www.akeebabackup.com/compatibility.html to find the latest version of the components that will work with your combination of Joomla! and PHP.

Admin Tools will not help to upgrade your Joomla! software. If all else fails you can download the update package from the joomla.org site and install it through the Joomla! installer.

Thanks, Dale for clarifying. I will go and work on ways to update Joomla first.

Just a suggestion, for dummies like me who fail to click on the 'Release' tab when trying to download the latest release, it would be great to see the following text added to the Description of your Admin Tools latest release:-

"Please click the 'Release notes' tab for system requirements".

Regards

We don't normally put that much information on the Release Notes tab. With Joomla! 2.5 being so recently end of life and so many people still using it, it helps.

I'll pass your suggestion on to Nicholas. He's out of town for a few days but he'll get it when he gets back.

That's great Dale. Thanks.

If you don't need to include much information, just a simple "Requires Joomla 3.x" in the description would suffice (for people in my situation, or who are behind the times for whatever reason).
