I installed a clean install of Joomla 3.4.5. I installed 3.6.4 of admin tools. I ran the quick setup wizard as recommended. I chose to have the wizard create .htaccess

When I go to .htaccess maker to review the settings... and should I click save and create .htaccess... even without making changes... I get a 500 error

Recover in normal way... remove old .htaccess... log in... admin tools.... quick setup wizard.... .htaccess is created and site is working... but I can break it again by attempting to save and create .htaccess

access to my site is available to investigate...

I have 11 other sites... all have problem except one!!! Cannot seem to find the difference on that one site...

Something in the default settings disagrees with your server.

Watch that System Configuration section down at the bottom, some of those have to be filled in. The urls for example. It would throw some sort of an error if the base directory was wrong, possibly a 500.

If those look good, you need to use trial and error to figure out which setting is wrong for your server.

At your suggestion I did a couple of trial and error changes to the configuration parameters at the bottom. I discovered that the wizard set:

"Disable HTTP methods TRACE and TRACK (protect against XST)" to YES...

Changing that to NO enabled me to save and create the .htaccess file without error.

I was able to fix all 12 sites in a few minutes time.

Wonder why my server doesn't like that setting?

I'm sorry, I don't have any more explanation to give. That setting just won't work on your server. I'm glad you got it working!
