Hello, I'd like to use CRON for automatic filescan (in front-end by cURL solution) due to to much maintened webpages.

It is OK in the small web, but on bigger webpages I'm limited by provider and PHP value max_execution_time (90 sec. only).

I have asked provider helpdesk for help and it is confirmed. This value is not allowed to change via php.ini or .htaccess unfortunatelly.

Is there any possibility, how to setup param max_execution_time and run this script partially whit execution time less than PHP value?

How it works in the background? There is not a problem if I run the Filescan manually.

Thank you for your help or advice.

Sincerely yours

Martin

I am a little confused. You mentioned max_execution_time but 90 seconds is pretty generous, that does not sound like the problem. I think the host is killing the CRON job after 90 seconds. We see more and more of that lately.

If they are killing the CRON job, the only solution is to use a third party provider to trigger the CRON job. I use webcron.com to get around the time limit on my host's CRON jobs and have been very satisfied. It is not a free service, but the cost is very small per job.
