 Hi,

My network went down and somehow this locked me out of joomla admin. I am now able to log in via desktop (iMac) but I cannot log in via my iPad. I was out when I tried to log in.

I did try again back at the office - using iPhone 3G for the internet connection (as I would when not at the office) - I see that it logged a security exception as Admin white list.

Please can you assist.

I was blocked using safari so I downloaded Chrome and firefox for iPad. None of them work. I have cleared iPad safari cache. I cant see how to clear chrome on iPad.

I managed to get in by changing my Administrator protection password back to what it was. I find this strange because it is not stored in the keychain.

I am now locked out of destop since I changed my admin protection password.

I am really struggling.

Please can somebody assist me.

My mother is in hospital so I have to be able to work on this jolly iPad.

OK, let's take it one step at a time. When you change the administrator password protection you are not locked out of the site. Your browser (Safari) will simply ask you to enter the new username / password combination.

Let's start by completely removing that protection by deleting the .htaccess and .htpasswd files from the administrator directory.

Now let's see if Admin Tools is blocking either IP address (iPad and Mac). Follow the instructions in https://www.akeebabackup.com/documentation/troubleshooter/atwafissues.html Remember to do the middle process (after renaming main.php to main-disable.php and before renaming it back to main.php) from BOTH the Mac AND the iPad – basically, from each Internet connection currently blocked.

Afterwards you should be able to log into your site from both machines.

Then retry setting an administrator password protection. Important! One some older servers only the first 8 characters are taken into account. Try entering a password that's only 8 characters long to avoid any compatibility issues.

the problem may be the 8 characters. Although all was working with my long passwords.

Siteground cant be logged into via iPad. If you know the company ( I used them based on your recommendation) please ask them to enable the iPads keyboard and/or the paste functionality. Much appreciated.

Our own site is also hosted on SiteGround and we can log in just fine. It's iOS' Mobile Safari that doesn't let you paste anything in the login modal box. You have to enter the username and password by heart :/

I dont get a keyboard option at all. I can tap tap tap the text area and no way of typing a thing. I will try again.

I will try chrome on iPad. :)

Try rebooting the iPad (hold down the power and the home button for 10 seconds). When I got a strange thing like that a soft reboot of the iPad saved my sanity :)
