 Hello
I have a problem with a Kickstart file. When I want to open url with kickstart.php I have 403 error : You don't have permission to access /kickstart.php on this server.

I read that Admin Tools can have impact on Kickstart here: https://www.akeebabackup.com/support/admin-tools/21693-could-admin-tools-impact-on-kickstart.html

I deleted Admin Tools .htaccess and set kickstart.php 777 and I still have 403 "You don't have permission to access /kickstart.php on this server."
Please help me
Regards

dlb
You did exactly the right thing. Please clear your browser cache, I think that is where your problem is now.

Unfortunately, after cleaning the cache the problem is still existing.

Please disable the System - Admin Tools plugin. That will disable the Admin Tools Web Application Firewall.

Are there any other .htaccess files on your hosting account that this site could be inheriting? Are there multiple sites on this account?

Thank you for answer. I disabled the Admin Tools system plugin, but the problem is still the same.

I don't have any .htaccess file, which could be inheriting by this website. But there is also .htaccess Joomla default file.

Yes, on this hosting account I have a few more websites, Admin Tools is installed on every website.

If you have renamed or replaced .htaccess and renamed main.php then Admin Tools is no longer active. The only exception is that either or both of those files could be cached. You have a code cache in PHP 7 that could hold it as well as the browser cache. The browser is easy, just clear the cache or use an alternate browser. The PHP cache you will need to check with your host to see how to clear it.

Kickstart needs two .js files that are included in the archive. It can download them from Google's site if they are not present. You may also be using a language file for Kickstart. Please double check the file permissions on those files.

I found the cause of issue. The .htaccess file blocked kickstart.php. When I deleted it, kickstart.php file works properly. But I wonder is it correct way to run Kickstart? Without Joomla .htaccess file?

May be I should add some exception rule to my .htaccess file? In Joomla! Documentation I found some information about this, but I don't know much about what should I modify. https://docs.joomla.org/Htaccess_examples_(security)

You said in your first post that you had already deleted the .htaccess file, that is why I was concentrating on it being cached somewhere.

You can add an exception for kickstart.php in .htaccess Maker under Allow direct access to these php files.

When Kickstart extracts an .haccess file from a backup archive, it renames the file to prevent this from happening. The cleanup step renames the file back to .htaccess. If you extract over an existing site, with an existing .htaccess file, then Kickstart's rename does not help.
