I recently installed the Akeeba Admin Tools Pro to an existing site and tested to ensure everything is working. Testing was successful or at least as far I could tell.

Today I came across an issue where the Recpatcha can no longer be submitted successfully, but only when using the Chrome (v53) browser.

Since this was not an issue prior to installing Akeeba Admin Tools, I am wondering if there are some settings I have overlooked? I have gone through the documentation but will revisit again. I have also ensured I have the correct keys for the plugin and the config is set to use the correct plugin. I also did an exhaustive search through the tickets and online in general with no success further identifying the cause of this issue.

I have only done a basic setup/config of Admin Tools so far. I can provide more details as needed.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

It is very possible that Admin Tools is the reason why the recaptcha doesn't work. First, let's figure out what part of Admin Tools is causing the problem. Please disable the System - Admin Tools plugin. Does that solve the problem with the recaptcha? If so, you can enable the plugin again and check the Security Exceptions log to see what type of block the recaptcha was triggering. Please post the error here and we'l figure out an exception to allow the recaptcha to work.

If disabling the plugin does not solve the issue, then the problem is in the .htaccess file. That would leave an error in your server error log, probably a 403 error. Please post that error here and that will tell us what php file needs direct access permission in the .htaccess.

I tried disabling the Admin Tools plugin, but was unsuccessful. I cleared cache, etc to be certain.

When reviewing the server error log, there were no 403 errors present. The only errors were the username and password errors from earlier.

It would seem the issue is not one of Admin Tools but perhaps the latest release of Joomla 3.6.2

Thanks for you help Dale.

Please excuse me for reopening your ticket. There is one more thing I want to try before we decide Admin Tools is innocent. Please rename your current .htaccess file in the root of your site and then rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess. The htaccess.txt file is Joomla!'s default file that we use as a "known good" file for situations just like this.

At that point, we have undone all that Admin Tools did, both the plugin and the enhanced .htaccess file.

I renamed the .htaccess file as suggested, to use the default Joomla .htaccess (htaccess.txt). Unfortunately it still did have the desired outcome.

I am running a few sites with the same setup and only able to reproduce the issue on this single site. I strongly suspect this is not Admin Tools that is causing the issue.

Thanks again for your assistance and speedy response.
