Hi Support

I am running a Joomla website with Akeeba Admin Tools Professional.

Everything is working fine on the frontend. When I try and access the backend using – http://www.makersofthings.co.za/administrator – I get the Admin Pro Login screen, however, after imputing the username and password I get the following error:

-------------------------------------------------------------

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Apache Server at makersofthings.co.za Port 80

-------------------------------------------------------------

I've contacted my hosting provider (Hetzner) and they have come back to me with....

"This typically occurs when something in either of the .htaccess is incompatible or redirects/rules are contradicting one another."

Is this something you could help me with?

Regards
Paul

Paul,

Rename your current .htaccess file. There should be one there named htaccess.admintools, it is a backup from before you used .htaccess Maker. Rename that to .htaccess. Does that solve your issue?

That is not a fix, we're just trying to confirm that your host support guys are right that the problem is in the .htaccess file.

Hi Dale

I have tried everything so far:

1. Renaming the .htaccess.admintools file to .htaccess
2. Deleting all .htaccess files and uploading a new one
3. Uninstalling Admin Tools completely on my localhost and uploading a new backup
4. Uploading a new backup to a difference server

I have never had a ploblem like this before and am completely lost at what to do

Paul

Akeeba Staff
Hello,

if you have a problem while trying to login in the backend folder, I suspect your host is not supporting the Password Protect feature.
Please follow these steps to delete the correct file and regain access to your site.
