In setting up the Admin Tools firewall I noticed some IPs listed in the Exceptions tab for Never block these IPs as well as domains listed under Allowed Domains on the same page. Can you tell me why those are listed there? Is is residue from development or is there a reason to keep those IPs unblocked?

Best wishes,
Rae

These are legitimate IPs and domains you most likely want to leave as-is. Per our documentation:

  • IPs: “The default list of IP addresses lists the known good IP addresses of major search engines”
  • Domains: “The default list of domain names is .googlebot.com,.search.msn.com which allows the search engine indexers Google Bot (used by Google Search) and MSN Bot (used by Bing).”

Before release I update the domains to include more search engines.
