I just install this and now I am blocked out.  How do I fix it?

You were sent an email from your site with troubleshooting links when you set up Admin Tools. If you already deleted it you can find the same troubleshooting information in our documentation (https://www.akeeba.com/documentation/admin-tools.html), look under “Troubleshooting guide”.

Assuming that by “blocked out” you mean you cannot connect to your site's backend you need to follow the instructions in Admin Tools' Web Application Firewall (WAF) locked you out of your site

If you keep getting blocked without actually using your site you will need to go to Components, Admin Tools, Web Application Firewall, Configure WAF and set Enable IP Workarounds to Yes.

I was wrong. I can't find Components.  TOTALLY CONFUSED!

Sorry

OK I got in by starting rescue mode but I don't understand how to unblock myself. I don't see an option that says "Unblock"

I renamed main.php but don't know how I fix the problem.

“Components” refers to the top level menu in Joomla. You click on Components, then on Admin Tools to get to Admin Tools.

If you do not see an Unblock My IP button it means that your IP address is not blocked. Therefore the problem is that you think you are blocked but, in fact, something else happened. So let's stop here and go back to the basics.

What EXACTLY did you try to do and what EXACTLY happened to make you think you are blocked? I need raw facts and if possible screenshots, not your interpretation of what you think must have happened.

Hello.  It's 2 AM and a good time to work in Oklahoma. I just sat down to work at this again.

So, when I installed it I did something with my username and password.  I am one of four Super Admins on each of our 50 sites we manage. I wanted to get started with Admin Tools by just getting all of the functionality AT has with the default settings. I do not think I did anything else.

I am in Greece, it's almost noon here. I have family in the US, I understand the time zone differences (having our toddler talk to her grandma is an exercise in planning and expectations management for everyone...).

I think that you must have gone through the Quick Setup Wizard.

One of the features the wizard has you do is set up the secret URL parameter.

How's that work? Let's say that you set the secret URL parameter foobar and your site's URL is https://www.example.com. If you go to https://www.example.com/administrator it will kick you back to https://www.example.com. Instead, you need to go to https://www.example.com/administrator/index.php?foobar.

Problem is, you may have forgotten you did that or not noted down the secret URL parameter.

The instructions in the link I gave you (Admin Tools' Web Application Firewall (WAF) locked you out of your site) do cover that. It's the very last paragraph

If you have forgotten your Administrator Secret URL parameter go to Components, Admin Tools, Web Application Firewall, Configure WAF, click on the Basic Protection Features tab and find the Administrator secret URL parameter option. Change or remove all of the text in that box to reset or unset, respectively, this feature.

So after doing that you can rename the main.php and you're done.

That worked PERFECTLY! Thanks and I will close this ticket.
