Hi Nicholas, sorry I didn´t find my old post. Maybe you remember, after updating Admintools my site crashed with an php error, finally you told me how to switch off admintools completely. Thanks a lot for your help.
I had no time to make the further steps and every time my site crashes I loose clients, so I beware to be to busy exploring more safty :)
Now I deinstalled admintools, that worked in the backend.
Admintools 2.1.2 works with Joomla 1.6.5 but caused an php error message about
"libaries/joomla/filessystem" in the frontend. Some safe mode issue. I commented the time-limit line out (but do not know if this is an problem fpor safty) and now I have this problem only in the backend. Thats the error-message:

Warning: set_time_limit() [function.set-time-limit]: Cannot set time limit in safe mode in /home/.sites/494/site470/web/libraries/joomla/filesystem/folder.php on line 548

Additional I cannot update to the last Admintools via backend because no XML File is found.

My provider uses some fix so joomla works perfectly with safemode on without any problem with permissions. If you need more information about this - I never found that in use at clients hosters - I will look for it.

Thanks, Dan

Hi!

Please note that the error message doesn't come from Admin Tools, but from the Joomla! core (the code which is part of the base Joomla! installation before you install any extensions).

First, do not comment out lines in Admin Tools. If you do that, do expect to receive no support. Each line in there has a reason to be there.

The real issue on your site is that you have set the PHP error reporting too high and you're outputting PHP error messages to the browser. Please ask your host for the proper way to set error_reporting to E_ERROR and display_errors to 0. They will understand what I mean and give you proper instructions. Meanwhile, go to your site's Global Configuration and set Error Reporting to None.

Finally, regarding the Admin Tools update, please download the latest version's ZIP file from https://www.akeebabackup.com/latest and install it on your site using the Extensions Manager. The single ZIP file is able to install or upgrade Admin Tools on Joomla! 1.5/1.6/1.7. One ZIP package to rule them all ;)
