Hello,

I do not know if this issue related to Admin Tools. I hope I will get a hint from your expertise.

I am using Wright template for my site template. I just noticed that when I switch Wright template to Protostar or any other templates I have installed, I got 500 error on the public site.

I also tried disable mod_security and change .htaccess to the original, but I was still get the 500 error.

Please advise.

Thank you,

M

By switching the .htaccess file to the Joomla! standard file you pretty much eliminated that as a possibility. The next step is to disable the System - Admin Tools plugin. That will disable the Web Application Firewall and the rest of Admin Tools.

I don't think Admin Tools is causing the problem. Disabling the plugin will tell us for sure.

Dale,

When I disabled the System - Admin Tools plugin, I got error message 403 Access Denied.

Please advise.

Thank you,

M

I'm sorry! I always forget about that feature.

Please go to Web Application Firewall, Configure WAF, on the first tab, set "Defend against plugin deactivation" to No. They you will be able to disable the plugin.

Dale,

No worries.

You were right. I disabled System - Admin Tools plugin, and I was still getting http 500 error on the public site.

I also turned error reporting on, but I did not see any message.

What else that I can check?

Thank you,

M

By switching the .htaccess file and disabling the System - Admin Tools plugin, what we know is that the problem isn't caused by Admin Tools.

The 500 error doesn't tell you much, that's intentional, it doesn't tell an attacker much either. There would probably be more information about the error, more details, in the server error log. If you can't get to that, your host can.

Dale,

I want to update you that the http 500 error came from one of the K2 file was missing. When I added it to the server, I can switch the template. It worked now.

Thank you,

M
