Description of my issue:

Literally the same thing as https://www.akeebabackup.com/support/akeeba-backup-3x/23798-annoying-warning-about-permissions.html but I have my permissions set to 777 currently and it is still happening.

Normally I keep my permissions as `whoami`:_www and 770 for local development, but I loosened them up to make a point here.

Hello,

if you see the warning, it means that Akeeba Backup could not load the media files, thus the error.
Just to be 100% sure, could you please double check if you have any javascript error in your page? Since we are going to hide such warning using javascript, if there is an error our code never runs and the warning stays, instead of being hidden.

Just the usual warning from mootools, "Use of getAttributeNode() is deprecated. Use getAttribute() instead."

So the only option left is a permission issue.
Since you are in a dev environment, please try to run a chmod -r 0777 <folder> on your site folder. Does it help?

No, but making everything owned by _www does, instead of just group _www. However that's clearly a bug as `whoami`:_www with 770 grants the same privileges to _www as _www:_www 770 and should be fine. In fact, everything works while the error message is displayed, but it is really annoying to be told something is broken when it isn't.

Actually we are not doing any check on the filesystem, we are doing an inverse check.
Let me explain: we always display the warning box, then a media file is loaded that hides it using Javascript.
If such file is not loaded (due to server permissions), the box stays, thus the warning.
Anywhere, I'm glad you fixed your issue.
