I am trying to upgrade Akeeba Backup and Admin Tools in the Joomla Update area but get the following error:

Warning
Error connecting to the server: 403

Error
Failed to download package. Download it and install manually from ...

The 4.0.1 version of Admin Tools requires special handling (manual install), seehttps://www.akeebabackup.com/home/news/1671-manual-update-admintools-4.html for more information.

That problem does not affect Akeeba Backup. Do you have your Download ID entered? Is the Joomla! installer identifying the correct version to upgrade to? If the wrong version is cached, that could throw a 403. Normally, that problem will fix itself as the cache expires.

Some servers block the outbound connection, in that case a manual installation is the only way.
