Hello there,

All my sites are now using SSL/HTTPS. However, on these sites I have a small issue with Akeeba Backup which I think may be a small bug...

In 'Manage Backups', for my backups which are stored on Amazon S3, when I click 'Manage remotely stored files' and then click the buttons for 'Download to your desktop', Chrome blocks the request. Looking at the console it's due to mixed content:

Mixed Content: The page at 'https://www.XXXX.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_akeeba&view=Manage' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure resource 'http://s3-eu-central-1.amazonaws.com/XXXX/XXXXX/site-www.si…Signature=XXXXXXXXXXXX'. This request has been blocked; the content must be served over HTTPS.

Unfortunately as all my sites have their backups stored on Amazon S3 and are all using HTTPS it means the functionality to download backups back to my desktop is effectively broken.

Hello,

thank you very much for the report.
I just checked and indeed the download link is always served using plain HTTP. That choice was made years ago, when HTTPS wasn't very popular and Amazon S3 had very high transfer costs if using HTTPS.
Since times have changed, I'm going to add support for HTTPS in the download link.
In the meantime you'll have to use other methods to fetch locally your archives.

Thank you very much.

Hi Davide,

Thanks for your swift reply.

No problem, I'm happy using AWS's console for now (even if the interface is still appalling!).

All the best,

Jamie
