The backup just stops, there is no clear reason. It was almost finished when it quit. Please switch your archive type to jpa. The zip format takes more CPU time because it has to calculate the CRC for each file. I want to see if reducing the CPU usage allows it to finish.

Based on this error, you may have a bad installation of Akeeba Backup. Please download it from our Downloads page and install it twice, back to back, without doing anything in between. This trick usually works around a glitch in the Joomla! installer where it fails to install some files during an installation or update.

It is possible we're dealing with multiple problems. In one of the logs that you posted the backup stopped just before it completed. That looked like a mod_security issue with a host-imposed limit, CPU cycles, MySQL queries, file size, etc. We may be dealing with different issues for CRON jobs vs. back end backups.
